First Bossche Pride Walk on 18 June
The very first Bossche Pride Walk will take place on Thursday 18 June, starting at 18:30. This colourful walk highlights Pride Month, celebrated every June. The initiative helps strengthen the queer community and increase visibility in the city.
The Pride Walk starts in front of ’s-Hertogenbosch station. From there, the group crosses the rainbow pedestrian crossing and follows Stationsweg into the city centre. A striking feature is the 25-metre rainbow flag carried during the walk: a powerful symbol of visibility, connection and inclusion. There will be a short photo stop on the Markt, by the town hall. The Pride Walk arrives at the Verkadefabriek at around 20:00.
PRIDE WALK ROUTE
Everyone is then welcome in the Serre, the lively festival hub of the Queer Arts Festival. At 21:00, the Queer Arts Festival officially opens in the Verkadefabriek’s Grote Zaal with Queer we go! A colourful collection of queer artists, performers and makers from Brabant takes to the stage, each in their own way.
The Pride Walk is free to join: everyone is warmly invited to walk along, preferably with a rainbow flag or another visible sign of support. Co-organiser Eddie Altenburg-Collin expects around 50 to 100 participants for this first edition, but quietly hopes for more: “We can feel a lot of enthusiasm in the city. It is wonderful to see so many organisations supporting this initiative.”
We understand that people may have questions about safety. That is why we are working closely with the municipality, police, traffic marshals and PROFI-SEC security. They will be present, both visibly and behind the scenes, to help make the Pride Walk safe, accessible and enjoyable. We provide guidance and closely monitor the situation along the route. Everyone walking with us is welcome, regardless of identity, background or origin. We want everyone to feel seen, welcome and safe to be themselves.
The organisations involved include Queer Arts Festival/Verkadefabriek, Den Bosch City, COC Noordoost Brabant and rainbow sports club Zoete Lieve Gerritje. The municipality of ’s-Hertogenbosch supports the initiative. With this first edition, ’s-Hertogenbosch takes an important step towards greater visibility, acceptance and connection in the city.
