Building the clubhouse of the future together at the Tramkade
Good news for the future of our building on the Tramkade in ’s-Hertogenbosch. COC Noordoost Brabant, together with Bossche Stokers, the Academie voor Beeldvorming and heritage specialist BOEi, has been selected to develop the historic Ketelhuis into Clubhuis Tramkade.
Over the coming years, the municipality of ’s-Hertogenbosch will continue developing the Tramkade and Spoorzone areas. Several distinctive buildings on the Tramkade are being sold and prepared for a new, sustainable future. Developers and plans have now been selected for four buildings.
The future of the Ketelhuis is especially meaningful to us. The building at Tramkade 26 has been COC Noordoost Brabant’s home for years. From here, our volunteers organise gatherings, activities and meetings for the LGBTI+ community in our region.
Together with Bossche Stokers and the Academie voor Beeldvorming, we developed a plan under the guidance of BOEi, an organisation specialising in restoring and repurposing heritage buildings. With the clubhouse at the Tramkade, we want to create a place where meeting, making, learning and enterprise come together. Not only for the organisations based there, but also for other initiatives, Tramkade visitors, the surrounding neighbourhood and the city.
For COC Noordoost Brabant, this means we can build on what we have established here over recent years. A place of our own is more than an office or meeting room. It is somewhere people can connect, volunteers can organise activities, and the LGBTI+ community in Den Bosch and the surrounding area has space of its own.
We are delighted that the municipality has expressed confidence in our shared plan for the Ketelhuis. In the coming period, we will work with our partners and BOEi to develop the plans further.
