IN CONVERSATION. WITH EACH OTHER.

Education sessions

A good conversation can make a difference. COC Noordoost-Brabant opens up conversations about sexual and gender diversity in schools, workplaces and organisations. We make room for questions and personal experiences and provide suitable teaching materials.

How can we make sure everyone can be themselves? Our volunteers draw on lived experience to talk with pupils, students and professionals about being LGBTQ+, respect and prejudice. We listen to what matters in your classroom or team and discuss the best approach with you beforehand. We work in Noordoost-Brabant, including ’s-Hertogenbosch, Oss and the surrounding area. Curious about the options? Read on and send us an enquiry with no obligation.

Primary schools

More than two million children grow up in an LGBTQ+ family or have LGBTQ+ relatives or acquaintances. Talking about this naturally and positively helps all children feel at home at school. We’re happy to help you plan a conversation or guest lesson that suits the group’s age and interests.

Secondary and vocational education

Who am I? Who am I attracted to? How do I relate to someone who is different from me? Our volunteers make room for questions on pupils’ and students’ minds. Giving diversity positive attention builds confidence and helps young people treat each other with respect. Personal stories open up conversations about sexual orientation, gender, coming out, bullying and respect.

Businesses and organisations

Would you like your staff to understand more about LGBTI+ people and experiences? Or does your organisation work with LGBTI+ clients, residents or visitors? Contact us to discuss how an education session could fit your work. Topics might include language, prejudice, contact with clients or being yourself at work. Together, we explore your learning goals, audience and a suitable approach.

After the conversation

A guest lesson can be a starting point. A safe, inclusive school also takes attention in everyday teaching, in school policies and in how you respond to exclusion. COC Nederland offers up-to-date teaching materials and information on GSAs: groups of students and teachers who work to make their school a place where everyone can be themselves. Primary school resources include the Astra op ontdekking toolkit. Visit the national website below.
